Happy Monday! Today we started learning about our new letter of the week, Kk. We also wrote in our journals, we went to gym and practiced our basketball skills, and we went to the library.  If you haven't handed in your "I am Unique!" sheet yet, please do that as soon as possible! See you tomorrow! 

 Happy Friday!  Today we went to music and practiced keeping a steady beat with rhythm instruments and djembe drums.  We started our "I am Unique!" unit in Social Studies. We first read a book called "Our Skin" by Megan Madison and then talked about how everyone has a unique skin tone. We compared our skin colour with our peers and found some students who had skin that looked like ours, and some didn't. We then talked about how it doesn't matter what skin colour you have, every person is unique, every person is important! Mrs. Switzer painted our hand a colour that matched our skin tone and we made a handprint.  In your child's take home folder, you will find a sheet titled "I am Unique!". Over the weekend, please help your child to fill this out and return it to school as soon as possible. We will use the information you provide to help guide our upcoming lessons.  Have a great weekend!  💛

Hi Room 2!💖 Today we went to the Grade 2 Assembly where they taught us about kindness. The Kindergartens were such attentive and respectful audience members, I was so impressed!  We also continued learning about 3D shapes, played centres and went to library to exchange our books.  Our next library day will be on our regular scheduled day, Monday.  Stay warm! ❄️

Happy 100th day of Kindergarten! 🎉 We had a fun day celebrating today. We made headbands with 100 dots, we had our buddies come in and help us string 100 fruit loops on a necklace, we exercised with 100 movements, we watched "count to 100 Numberblocks", and we had centres.  Tomorrow is our library day for this week. Please bring your book back to exchange it.  Tomorrow is also our "Pink Shirt Day". Wear pink to spread awareness against bullying!  See you tomorrow! 💖

 Happy winter-y Tuesday! ❄️ Today we began learning about letter Hh. We practiced printing Hh and sounding out "h words" in our journals. We played centres. We continued learning about 3D shapes and worked with a team to create a castle using shapes that are curved, flat, straight and round.  Tomorrow is our 100th day of school! You can dress up like a 100 year old if you want to to celebrate 100 day! We will be participating in pink shirt day on Thursday, February 23.  Library day is on Thursday this week.  See you tomorrow!

 Hi Room 2! Today we went on a nature walk, practiced rhyming, practiced segmenting words and played centres with Mrs. Hogan's class.  We have no school for students on Thursday or Friday this week. There is also no school on Monday because it is Family Day.  Wednesday is our 100th day of school! I sent a notice about 100 day home today. Students are welcome to dress up like they are "100 years old" to celebrate! Our library day next week will be on Thursday due to missing Monday.  See you Tuesday! 

Happy Valentines Day! ❤️ Today we made Valentines cards for our families, handed out our Valentines cards, played scooter tag and scooter relay in gym, and had centres.  There is no school for students on Thursday or Friday this week.  Our 100th Day of School is on Wednesday, February 22. Your child is welcome to dress up like they are 100 years old for a fun filled day!  We will celebrate pink shirt day on Thursday, February 23 instead of February 22.  See you tomorrow! 💖

Tomorrow is Valentines Day!  We have 16 students in our class. Your child is welcome to bring Valentines for the class. Please do not write other students names on the cards, your child can just sign their name on each card. Please do not bring treats, candy or chocolates for other kids, unless they are individually wrapped and attached to the Valentines card.   Happy Friday! Today we did Valentine's art with our buddies, played centres, practiced rhyming words and went outside and enjoyed the sunshine while playing on the playground!
