Switzer's Kinders

  Happy Friday! Today we practiced writing sentences on our whiteboards, we went outside and did gym with our big buddies, we had centres and enjoyed the playground at the end of the day for our weekly recess.  I am so sad to let you know that today was my last day at work. My doctor has advised me to go on medical leave before my baby girl comes in June. I will truly miss each one of my Kinders. I have LOVED working with your children this year, and they hold a special place in my heart.  Thank you for all of your support this year! Room 2 will be getting a new teacher on Monday. They will teach them for the remainder of the year.  Have a great summer and I will see you all at the end of June next year!  ❤️ Mrs. Switzer 

Happy Wednesday! Today we continued working on our Mother's Day gift, we practiced showing 10 in different ways and practiced writing addition number sentences. We did not get a chance to go on our nature walk, but we will go out on Friday instead.  Have an awesome evening! 

Hi Room 2! Today we continued learning about caterpillars. We practiced drawing realistic caterpillars and leaves and painted them with liquid watercolours. We had centre time, practiced our phonics and started our Mother's Day present! Tomorrow is Nature Walk Wednesday. We will go outside if it isn't too rainy!  See you tomorrow! 

Happy May!  Today we wrote a new book, our "og" word family book. Please have your child read it to you tonight! We played centres with Mrs. Hogan's class. We practiced our phonics. We practiced making ten with two different numbers.  Tomorrow is Nature Walk Wednesday! 

Happy Friday!  The students did so well at their assembly yesterday. I am so proud!! Thank you for attending.  Today we wrote in our journals about our assembly experience, we had centres with Room 1, we practiced finding two numbers that add together to make 10, and we enjoyed the sunshine on the playground for our Friday recess.  We are still looking for donations for the Student Parent Council's Year End Carnival. We are in charge of the "summer fun" box. Two families have already donated beach towels and sand toys. We are still looking for things like sidewalk chalk, bubbles, kids sunglasses, sun hats, etc. If you are able to donate, that would be amazing!  Have an amazing weekend! 

Hello Room 2! Today we practiced for our assembly, practiced writing sentences and started making some Earth Day headbands for our performance. We went to gym and practiced passing and catching with scoops and balls as well.  Our assembly is on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Please wear blue or green to school that day!

Happy Wednesday! Today we practiced writing sentences, drew sunshines, finished up some art, had centres and practiced showing numbers in different ways. We didn't go outside today because of our long walk on Monday, and it was snowing outside! Our assembly is on April 27 at 9:00 am. We would love to see you there!

 Hi Room 2! Today we did a nature walk to Fish Creek Park. We had a wonderful time looking for signs of spring in the sunshine. We enjoyed eating our snacks outside and hunting for things on our spring scavenger hunt. When we came back to school, we went to library to exchange our books. We then had a sharing circle about what we saw at Fish Creek. After, we wrote about our adventure in our journals. 

Happy Friday! Today we went to music to prepare for our assembly. We then practiced reading sentences, chopping through words to help us sound them out, and practiced rhyming. We played centres and enjoyed the sunshine at the playground.  On Monday, we will have our walk to Fish Creek Park. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and has a snack that is easy to bring on a walk. No yogurt, fruit cups with juice in them, or other snacks that require a spoon please! Please do not be late as we will leave for our walk as soon as the day begins. We are so excited to go on our walk and see some signs of spring.  Have a wonderful weekend! 

Today we played a math game where we practiced adding two dice by "counting on". We also practiced showing numbers to 10 in different ways. We went to gym and practiced throwing a frisbee and we made coffee filter earths for earth day.  Tomorrow is our playground day. Please dress for the weather!  On Monday, we are going on our Fish Creek walk.  Our Kindergarten assembly is on April 27 at 9:00 am.  See you tomorrow! 

Welcome back! Today we read the book "The Earth Book" by Todd Parr. We then wrote in our journals of ways we can take care of the earth. We drew trees on recycled cardboard and had centres. We went to music and practiced for our assembly.  Our Kindergarten Assembly is on April 27 at 9:00 am. We would love to have you join us! We will be going on a walking field trip to Fish Creek Park on April 17 at 8:45 am. Please come to school on April 17 at 8:30 am and don't be late!  Happy Easter break! 🐰 There is no school for kids on Friday this week or Monday next week. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 11.  Our Kindergarten Assembly is on Thursday, April 27 at 9:00 am in the gym. We would love to have you join us! Today was Nature Walk Wednesday! We looked for any new signs of spring and went through the nature forest. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays! We made easter egg art with oil pastels.  Our Kindergarten Assembly is on Thursday, April 27 at 9:00 am.  Hi Room 2!  Welcome back, I hope you had a wonderful spring break.  Today we started our unit on "Earth Day". We started learning a song about why we love the earth and wrote in our journals about why we love the earth.  We also went to library and went to gym. We started learning about the letter Uu.  In your child's folder you will find some information about a fundraiser Woodlands School is hosting for the Grade 5/6 camping trip.  Our Kindergarten Assembly will be April 27 at 9:00 am. Happy St. Patrick's Day!   Today we worked with our buddies to finish our leprechaun traps. The students did such an amazing job! We also went to music where we learned a leprechaun song and practiced keeping a steady beat with body percussion to celtic music. Library day is on Monday!  Have a great weekend!   

Hi Room 2! Wow, I forgot to blog the last two weeks, I'm sorry about that!  This week we are learning the letter Ff. Today we played a rainbow math game with a partner and practiced adding two dice together. The students did an excellent job of working together.  Tomorrow is Nature Walk Wednesday. Please dress for the weather and bring an extra pair of socks in case it is wet outside!
